Horse riding holidays in the beautiful mountains of Catalonia, Spain John and Tracy started Catalan trails in 2008 Both having worked with horses most of their life, they have the experience and knowledge to make sure you have an unforgettable and fulfilling holiday They have been together for over 6 years and have work in various yards both in England and France Tracy is an experience groom, trainer, teacher and guide John is an Monty Roberts Preliminary Certificate Holder With many years experience in training, care and teaching using natural methods Here at Catalan Trails we offer safe, off road trekking on old tracks through the hillsides, olive groves and river of the Ebro valley which boasts a Nature Reserves containing Storks, Camargue ponies and many species of wild and unusual birds. This is a small and informal riding holiday which can be tailored to your abilities and experience on well mannered, much loved Spanish horsesMaximum riding parties are 4/5, but can offer plenty of other activities for non-ridersThese activities include the use of mountain bikes, fishing on the River Ebro, trips to coastal towns/beaches, train trips to BarcelonaWe can cater for children depending on their experience and non-riders/beginners but it would just be lessons with small rides outRiding will vary on your individual needs, but we look to offer about 4 hours riding per day, either trail rides or lessons. But this can vary depending on weather. We do split rides where required to give everyone an experience they can enjoyDuring July and August it gets to hot to ride so we only offer early morning rides only, but have plenty of other activities on offer Due to the fact that Spanish horses are quite small we have to put a weight limit of 14/15 stone for experience riders and 13/14 stone for less experience ridersExtra lessons in riding or Natural horse care and horsemanship available by arrangementThe holiday includes riding, airport transfer from Reus, accommodation, breakfast and lunch. The accomodation is in local Bed and Breakfasts, all with a pool and on or near the river Ebro 'You can be taken to local restaurants for your evening meal or you can eat where you are staying (Evening meal is not included in price) Airfare is not included in the holiday, but cheap flights are easy to find from many destinations in the UK, we include airport transfer from Reus in the price, but from Barcelona it is 80 euros per party of 4 We suggest that you hire a car for your holiday so you can get the most out of your stay in this beautiful part of Spain

About the horses: We have 6 horses, 5 are Spanish breeds and one French trotter. They are out 24/7 all year round. They are barefoot and natural.
